Summary:

The deposits of the Yugovskaya (= Yugovskian) suite (Sheshminsky horizon of the Ufimian stage, Middle Permian) in the stratotype region (Permian Urals) are mainly represented by sandy-clayey rocks: argillites and sandstones with subordinate gravel interlayers. The presence of interlayers enriched in copper-bearing minerals, as well as interlayers with increased barium and vanadium content, indicates the removal of clastic particles from the Paleo-Urals with their subsequent redeposition on the accumulative plain. Based on the study of the collection of plant remains from the Sheshminsky deposits, the composition of the Yugovskaya flora was established, which includes representatives of lycopodiophytes, equisetophytes, ferns, peltaspermacean pteridosperms, ginkgophytes, conifers and voinovskyalean gymnosperms. The nature of the vegetation with numerous meso- and xerophilic elements, as well as the red color of the deposits containing plant remains, indicate the existence of a semi-arid climate with a short winter-wet season in this area during the Yugovskian time.
