Created in the Salavat municipal district of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Yangan-Tau geopark territorially covers the southeastern part of the Ufa plateau, the southern part of the Priai plain of the karst country of the East European Plain and the northwestern part of the south of the Ural karst country, where platform, flat and mountain carbonate karst, respectively, are situated. Almost all known forms of manifestation of karst are widespread on the territory of the Geopark. Here are located Urmantau and Laklinskaya caves of significant length, numerous cave archaeological sites and karst arches. It has been established that more numerous of the Geopark caves are developed in mountain carbonate karst, while more extended caves are characteristic of plain karst. The high karst-speleological potential of the Geopark with the presence of unique caves predetermines the prospects for organizing excursion sites on their basis for mass, scientific and sports visits.
