Geologicheskii Vestnik

The faunas of amphibians, reptiles and mammals of the Sterlitamak shikhans located on the territory of the Toratau Geopark (Southern Urals) were studied. Protected species have been identified. The collection of material was sampled from 2017 till 2022. The methods of visual observation of animals and traces of their vital activity in various biotopes, determination of the species affiliation of subrecent bone remains from the near-surface deposits of biotopes and deposits of the karst cavity (Garlic Cave) and materials from the iNaturalist biodiversity study program were used. Also included are data from the report on the city of Kushtau A.R. Ishbirdina, M.M. Krivosheeva, S.V. Gerasimov [2019]. The class Amphibians is represented on the Sterlitamak shikhans and in their vicinity by two orders: Tailed, Caudata Oppel, 1871 (1 species — Triturus cristatus) and Tailless, Anura Rafinesque, 1815 (3 species — Bufo bufo, Rana arvalis and Pelophylax ridibundus). 2 species — Triturus cristatus and Bufo bufo are included in the Red Book of the Republic of Bashkortostan [2014]. The class Reptiles is represented by 1 order — Scaled, Squamata Oppel, 1811 (7 species — Anguis fragilis, Zootoca vivipara, Lacerta agilis, Coronella austriaca, Natrix natrix, Natrix tessellata, Vipera berus). 4 species — Anguis fragilis, Vipera berus, Natrix tessellata, Coronella austriaca are included in the Red Book of the Republic of Bashkortostan [2014], and here is the only reliably established habitat of Natrix tessellata in the South Ural region. The class Mammals is represented by 5 orders: Insectivores, Eulipotyphla Waddell, Okada & Hasegawa, 1999 (2 species — Erinaceus concolor, Talpa europaea), Chiroptera, Chiroptera Blumenbach, 1779 (5 species — Myotis daubentoni, Myotis dasycneme, Pipistrellus nathusii, Plecotus auritus, Vespertilio murinus), Lagomorpha, Lagomorpha Brandt, 1855 (1 species — Ochotona pusilla), Rodents, Rodentia Bowdich, 1821 (11 species — Tamias sibiricus, Castor fiber, Spermophilus major, Eliomys quercinus, Lagurus lagurus, Clethrionomys rufocanus, Clethrionomys glareolis, Microtus agrestis, Microtus arvalis, Microtus oeconomus, Ondatra zibethicus), Carnivores, Carnivora Bowdich, 1821 (6 species — Canis lupus, Vulpes vulpes, Ursus arctos, Martes martes, Mustela nivalis, Meles amurensis), Artiodactyls, Artiodactyla Owen, 1848 (3 species — Sus scrofa, Capreolus pygargus, Alces alces). 6 species — Myotis daubentoni, Myotis dasycneme, Pipistrellus nathusii, Plecotus auritus, Ochotona pusilla, Eliomys quercinus are included in the Red Book of the Republic of Bashkortostan [2014].
