This article briefly describes the scientific career of Viktor Alekseevich Maslov, Doctor of Sciences (Geol. Mineral.), Honored Scientist of the Bashkir ASSR, long-time head of the Paleozoic Stratigraphy Laboratory at the Institute of Geology of the Bashkir Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences/Bashkir Scientific Center, Urals Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences/Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Through the eyes of his son, the specifics of field and office work at the Institute in the 1970s and 1980s are described, an assessment of their results is given.
