Editorial policies

The Geologicheskii Vestnik journal was established by the Institute of the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (UFRC RAS) and are licensed under a CC BY license (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License).

The Geologicheskii Vestnik provide Open Access, which allows:

  • to share (exchange) – copy and distribute the material (articles) on any medium and in any format;
  • to adapting (create derivative materials) – remix, modify and create something new, based on this material (article) for any purpose, including commercial.

The licensor has not right to cancel the freedoms above as long as the license terms are met.

However, this applies subject to the following conditions:

Attribution: each non-original publication of research materials must contain the name of its creator and the title of the journal, a copyright notice, a license notice and a link to the original article. These data can be indicated in any adequate way without the licensor direct approval.

No additional restrictions, you may not apply legal restrictions or technological measures: no user may apply measures that restrict others in actions permitted by the license, for example, prohibit access to the journal's website, charge a fee for articles, etc.

CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY

All manuscripts accepted for editing and review are confidential documents until their publication. Familization and discussion of them with other persons (not included in the editorial board of the Geologicheskii Vestnik journal, as well as invited reviewers and experts) is not permitted.

Confidential information or ideas obtained during the editorial or peer review process are not subject to disclosure or use for personal purposes.

PLAGIARISM POLICY

The Geologicheskii Vestnik journal publishes only original manuscripts of high scientific level. By submitting a manuscript for publication, the author guarantee that:

- it has not been published previously;

- it has not been submitted for publication elsewhere;

- all excerpts from other publications (both those of the author himself and those under other authorship) used in the manuscript are supported by references.

Authorship verification is carried out using the Antiplagiat system https://www.antiplagiat.ru/ of the Antiplagiat JSC company. Manuscripts in which plagiarism is detected will not be allowed for publication, about which the author and the organization affiliated with the author will be notified in a written note.

FUNDING POLICY

Articles in the journal are published free of charge for all authors. The editorial board of the Geologicheskii Vestnik journal does not charge authors for posting, reviewing, editing and publishing articles. Financing is provided by extra-budgetary funds of the publishing house.

ADVERTISING POLICY

The editorial board adheres to ethical standards in its activities in accordance with the Law of the Russian Federation No 2124-1 of December 27, 1991 ‘On Mass Media’ as amended on March 11, 2024. The journal does not publish advertising materials and does not sell advertising in connection with specific articles.

REPOSITORY POLICY

Under the journal’s open access licence CC BY 4.0, authors have the right to submit the final published version of their article to institutional and/or centralized repositories immediately after publication. In this case it is mandatory to clearly attribute the initial place of the article’s publication and to give correct and full citation details. Authors are strongly encouraged to deposit the URL/DOI of their published article in any repository in addition to the PDF version.

DATA RETENTION POLICY

Information about all articles, published in the journal, could be found:

- on the official website of the Geologicheskii Vestnik journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IG UFRC RAS) (http://geolvestnik.ru/). It contains PDF versions of all articles and full issues of the journal;

- on the official website of the Institute of Geology - Subdivision of the Ufa Federal Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences (http://ig.ufaras.ru/zhurnal/);

– on the website of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU (https://elibrary.ru/title_about_new.asp?id=68119 ), which has a search engine (by authors, numbers and titles of articles) and PDF versions of individual articles and full issues of the journal are posted;

– on the Crossref website (https://search.crossref.org/)

ARCHIVING POLICY

The archival policy is aimed at selecting, storing and providing access to the archives of the Geologicheskii Vestnik journal. The archival policy involves the implementation of three important aims:

1) comply with state standards for maintaining archival affairs;

2) register and publish articles in accordance with professional standards;

3) ensure the widest possible access to archival data, which is provided for by the publishing practice of Open Access.

The journal archive contains full texts of peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and lists of references to them. These materials are of great scientific value, as they include descriptions of the most significant results of the conducted research.

SELF-ARCHIVING POLICY

Authors have the right to store their articles published in the journal on personal websites and/or various databases, indicating the name and the issue of the journal, in which the article was published. In this regard, the editors recommend using the publisher’s PDF version of the article or making a link to it.

POLICY ON RETRACTION OF PUBLICATION

The journal guarantees the publiсation of reliable information. In cases where the following facts are found in the publication:

- unreliable information;

- plagiarism;

- copyright infringement;

- disclosure of information on competing interests;

- confidential information without obtaining appropriate permissions;

- and other cases that have a distorting effect on the interpretation of data and recommendations,

the editorial board of the journal applies a mechanism for correcting an already published article/information, which is retraction of the article. The main objective of this mechanism is to ensure the reliability of the published information by notifying the reader about publications with serious shortcomings, as well as containing unreliable data.

PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING POLICY

The authors’ information (last name, first name, middle name, name of affiliated organization, organization address, e-mail address, phone number for readers to contact the author) provided by them for publication in the journal, becomes available to an indefinite number of persons, to which the authors give their written consent of the Offer when sending the manuscript (and related materials) to the e-mail of the editorial office of the journal.

The publication of the specified information is carried out in the interests of the authors for the purpose of full and correct accounting of publications and their citation by the relevant bibliographic organizations, as well as to ensure the possibility of contacts of the authors with the scientific community.

Personal information provided by the authors to the journal, in addition to the information listed above, including additional email addresses and phone numbers, will be used solely for contacting the authors in the process of preparing a manuscript for publication. The editorial board undertakes not to transfer this personal information to third parties who may use it for other purposes.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE POLICY

The journal allows the use of generative artificial intelligence (hereinafter AI) tools in preparing research for publication, with the exception of cases of generating and editing any images.

If the generated images are part of the research, the author(s) must describe all changes in detail. The author must take all measures to eliminate the risks associated with the generative AI. If these measures are not applicable, authors are advised to avoid using generative AI.

The AI-powered software used in preparation of the research cannot be acknowledged as an author, a co-author or a contributor to the research or the article under any circumstances.

Transferring any data to AI-powered software always bears risks associated with the violation of the confidentiality of the data obtained. In this regard, the publication warns all participants in the editorial and publishing process: editors, reviewers, translators about the inadmissibility of using AI tools to work with unpublished materials.
